A Few Tips For Healthy Hair

I thought I’d put a post together on a few things I incorporate into my hair care routine that aren’t the most obvious tips but actually do really help to maintain healthy hair.

1. Use a tonic lotionThis one from Bumble & Bumble is absolutely brilliant and I cannot go without this in my haircare routine. I’ve written a full post here explaining the product, but to summarise, it’s a nutrient-rich tonic water that replenishes moisture, soothes and stimulates the scalp, detangles and enhances the performance of hair products to follow. I’m quite prone to an itchy, dry scalp and this has really made my scalp much healthier and helped my hair grow quicker. Tonic lotions are a pretty old-school barbershop-style product but there’s a reason that they're such a classic.

2. Use a scalp serum – Again, I love this Thickening Serum from Bumble & Bumble because it contains scalp-stimulating ingredients such as caffeine, caster oil and rosemary extract that really strengthens and fattens hair follicles over time leading to healthier and thicker hair. The texture is like water and I apply a few pumps of this to my hair every night.

3. Use a wide-tooth comb on wet hair – Our hair is at its most fragile when wet, so using a regular comb or hair brush is a big no no. I love this GHD Carbon Anti-Static comb, as not only does it allow me to gently detangle my damp hair, it also reduces how static my hair gets.

4. Always use a Tangle Teezer on dry hair – I have never found a product that can get rid of the most horrendous knots in my hair as well as my Tangle Teezer. If you haven’t already tried it then you really must – I guarantee it will become one of your holy grails! It’s also a great one to pop in your handbag since it’s got a removable cover to protect the teeth from fluff and dirt. I also couldn’t resist buying this baby in leopard print – that honestly makes me love it even more!

5. Use a hair oil – Now any hair oil will do but I personally love this Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil from Bumble & Bumble because it is lightweight like no other hair oil I’ve ever tried and contains a lovely blend of nourishing oils to provide moisture, detangle and add shine.
