Brand Focus: M&J London

I adore burning candles all year round, whether it's a hot Summer's day or a blistering Winter's night. I tend to go for candles from all of the usual suspects like Diptyque, Jo Malone and recently Neal's Yard candles since I've really gotten into using only 100% organic candles as they don't produce harmful toxins or sooty smoke. Readers of MIM will already know how important natural products are for me when it comes to skincare, haircare and indeed candles. A luxury yet still ethical brand that I'm so excited to share is M&J London

M&J London candles are made from 100% rainforest safe soya wax, which is sustainably grown, non-toxic and provides up to 60 hours of clean burning with the large candles. The fragrances used are a combination of essential oils and aroma compounds, and the candle wicks are lead-free and made from linen and cotton which means that it's a clean-burning candle. The glass is also made from 100% recycled European glass that can be 'up-cycled' and reused again as a drinking tumbler. Each candle is hand poured here in London.

Now onto the scents of the candles - they are absolutely gorgeous. I chose the Sweet Beginnings* candle which is Lavender, Manuka Honey and Cocoa. Firstly, I'd just like to state what a unique combination that is, and actually that rings true for their full range of candles. Secondly, the scent was absolutely divine. It's risen to the top of my list as my favourite scented candle of all time. I find that with these organic candles, brands often don't have a great selection of scents or aren't very inventive, but each of the M&J London candles smell absolutely scrumptious! The six available are:

Andalusian Romance - Orange Blosson & Jasmine
El Capitan - Amber, Cedar & Rosewood
English Summer - Cucumber, Mint, Strawberry & Champagne
Left Bank Martini - Elderflower, Lemongrass, Gooseberry & Juniper
Samadhi - Karpuura, Tulsi & Rose
Sweet Beginnings - Lavender, Manuka Honey & Cocoa

I really admire the ethos of the brand, and how they place emphasis on ensuring that everything from the candle wax to the outer packaging is ethically sourced and recyclable. M&J London give £1 from every large candle sold to Eaves - a London based women's charity that provides a range of support services to vulnerable women who have experienced violence. What really makes M&J stand out from other brands are how passionate they are about supporting the community and respecting the environment whilst still providing these high quality candles, showing that you don't have to compromise ethics to produce a luxury item. You really can have it all with M&J London and do your bit for society too! I will definitely be repurchasing this candle and trying the other scents!
