Lash Love

I've discovered a new beauty product to rave about. It's possibly the most beautiful looking mascara in the world and in my opinion it deserves its own post. Not only does it look gorgeous on the outside, it is also a fantastic product.

When it comes to mascara, I've always been a Benefit girl. From BADgal Lash to They're Real mascara, I've bought them all and loved them very much. I was in the market for a new high-end mascara recently, and I happened to stumble across this one in a department store abroad. I looked at everything from Lancome to YSL, but I decided to go with the one luxury brand that isn't readily available in London - Helena Rubinstein.

Now I've heard a lot about the infamous HR mascaras, and I wanted to see if they were worth the hype. I decided to treat myself and splurge by purchasing the Lash Queen Sexy Blacks Mascara in No. 1 Scandalous Black. At about 38 Euros a pop, I was really hoping that it lived up to my expectations - and it did.

After having some time to test it out, it volumizes and lengthens my lashes more so than Benefit's They're Real mascara, and creates very full and dark looking lashes. It has great staying power and lasts all day long. This also isn't one of those mascara you need to layer on to build volume, as after the first coat it looks extremely voluminous. It's enriched with beeswax and jojoba oil which gives it more of a velvety texture. One thing that I feel the Benefit mascara does very well is separate the lashes, since the bristles on the mascara wand are very short and densely packed together. So my new favourite mascara combination is to apply the Helena Rubinstein mascara all over to build volume and length, and then go in with the Benefit mascara to further separate the lashes, although I would happily use the HR mascara on its own, but since I've got both I may as well use both!

And the packaging... I thought I'd save this till last since it is of the least importance, but isn't it beautiful! Embellished with black lace flowers with a velvet trim - it does look rather alluring for a mascara.

I am very happy with my new purchase, and for those of you looking to splurge on a bit of a luxury mascara I would definitely recommend this one.

Let me know if you've tried it and your thoughts down below!

Happy reading,

S.
